چکیده

Using the Green function approach to the problem of quantization of the phe-nomenological Maxwell theory, the propagation of quantized radiation through dispersive and absorptive multilayer dielectric plates is studied. Input–output relations are derived, with special emphasis on the determination of the quantum noise generators associated with the absorption of radiation inside the dielec-tric matter. The input–output relations are used to express arbitrary correlation functions of the outgoing field in terms of correlation functions of the incoming field and those of the noise generators. To illustrate the theory, the effect of a single-slab plate on the mean photon-number densities in the frequency domain is discussed in more detail.

In this paper, we quantize electromagnetic field in, lossy, dispersive and anisotropic magnetodielectric media by using phenomenological approach. We obtain quantum input– output relations for anisotropic multilayer metamaterials. As an application of our approach, we investigate the dissipative and anisotropic effects of an anisotropic magnetodielectric slab on the quantum properties of incide...

In order to investigate the effect of a medium with dissipation and dispersion and also the curvature of the physical space on the properties of the incident quantum states, we use the quantization of electromagnetic field based on phenomenological approach to obtain input-output relations between radiations on both sides of dielectric slab. By using these relations the fidelity, the Wigner fun...

Noise-free scattering of the quantized electromagnetic field from a dispersive linear dielectric

We study the scattering of the quantized electromagnetic field from a linear, dispersive dielectric using the scattering formalism for quantum fields. The medium is modeled as a collection of harmonic oscillators with a number of distinct resonance frequencies. This model corresponds to the Sellmeir expansion, which is widely used to describe experimental data for real dispersive media. The int...

Instantaneous electric energy and electric power dissipation in dispersive media

We derive the instantaneous densities of electric energy and electric power dissipation in lossless and lossy dispersive media for a time-harmonic electric field. The instantaneous quantities are decomposed into DC and AC components, some of which are shown to be independent of the dispersion of dielectric constants. The AC component of the instantaneous energy density can be used to visualize ...

Nonlocal effective medium analysis in symmetric metal-dielectric multilayer metamaterials

The optical nonlocality in symmetric metal-dielectric multilayer metamaterials is theoretically and experimentally investigated with respect to transverse-magnetic-polarized incident light. A nonlocal effective medium theory is derived from the transfer-matrix method to determine the nonlocal effective permittivity depending on both the frequency and wave vector in a symmetric metal-dielectric ...
